Wishes--Dreams
#1

Wishes seldom get you far;
when cast upon a falling star,
return to earth whence they are made.

Dreams require a special kind
of faith; an idealistic mind
that has not learned, all stars will fade.

Ah, the cynical idealist, that most tortured of creatures Smile

I was once abused quite roundly for telling someone to stop wishing and praying and start doing, so I appreciate the sentiment here. And I still believe, despite all evidence to the contrary, that even in fading a star's light is transmuted into something eternal.

You summed it up nicely and I definitely agree. It may even inspire a third stanza.
