seriously, i had to look up "apothegm" i realised it's silent g though, cos i have phlegm problem

As it was not rhymed with anything I'm not sure it makes much difference. Actually, although I know how to say it, I don't heard anyone do so. It's like the first part of apathy + them. Strange word actually.
