Why the Pauses?

Why are there periods on the Pen when many participate, and other periods when few do?

People speak up when there are interesting things to speak up about. If you track, the busiest times are always when there is fighting or controversy. Members chek in for that. The model of give feedback, post a poem , check back ocasionally has never been sustainable either here or anywhere else.

I usually write in waves where I have a routine (ie write for two hours on Sunday) and stick to it for a few months. Then life gets in the way and that falls away and I do other things.

Then I get back in to writing and come back with a new routine.

The site has always gone through dips between high activity. Want to put up your dukes, duke?

Personally, busy June, lack of imagination and this week a series of odd events. I was going to put the story in the coffee shop but didn’t, then was going to put it here but didn’t, then I wrote half a silly poem and gave that up. Stuck with no wifi and a little screen for a bit, harder to read and post. And it’s hot. No real reason for posting less.

What’s up with you?

I got a new job almost a couple months ago. I remember being a lot more active before then. Now I’ve been on lurking mode.

Just saw a complete rainbow in my back yard... first for me, I think.  You Earthlings are so blessed with your atmosphere!

For me, it’s about when I have the bandwidth
I’m usually quite active, but providing feedback takes mental energy and I need to have the right headspace for that. It’s far easier to rant and engage in verbal jousting at other times
