five struggling moms,
four vanished kids,
three religious pamphlets,
two cash gifts, and
a carol on a broadsheet.

Let It Lie Gentle On Thy Silken Ear


Reproductive organs alter–
turn tumescent or relaxed
active or passive
dry or not-so
depending upon circumstances
though the situations so
responded to may not be
quite appropriate.

Yet responding to an odd reaction
by attempting to convert an innie
to an outie or verse visa
makes the business of sow’s purse
and silken ear
seem a very tiddle by comparison
not to mention less ridiculous.
