Subtraction by Subtraction

Some writer juxtapose opposites
in an attempt to be clever;
yet the only cleverness
apparent is its lack.

How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.

Overall a good poem which seems to capture my own attitude about what I create sometimes. I like how the poem juxtaposes The Desire for creativity and the lack thereof. The content is more critique than poetry though. How might the lines demonstrate or explore the failure of an aspiring writer?

Are you making fun of me Dale? Is it "writers"? "juxtaposes"? Why am I going crazy reading this.
I'll be there in a minute.

'writers'?

Some writers write
from a very high horse.
They think they're amazing;
they're rubbish, of course.*

Some writers write from a very high chair,
breathing in the rancid rarefied air,
whilst fondling nuts from Macadamia,
and stroking the balls of Academia.

After a long sentence
the prisoner is set free
to wear whatever colors
or undress what he sees.

Dale mocks all of us! The only good poets are the ones sponsored by the rich and powerful --- they're the one who actually have something to say, aside from their navels! xD I really think it should be "writers", though.

So wait, is a lack of cleverness in itself clever? Those last two lines are a little paradoxical -- but then, the title....isn't? Good God, the hilarity! (a less ringing note would probably be "yet the only cleverness / apparent's somewhere else." Or something.
