This is quite fine / a comment on human hubris is what comes across to me...
but haiku are like that, humans commenting on nature as if they weren't a part of it.

BOO!

I don't really see the hubris here. I see this as something somehow sappier than that -- something about the wheel of fortune being deeper than human perception (or something). Then again, I have a lot of both -- sap and hubris, that is.
