Milo, you've been doing a fantastic job with the prompts. I'm looking forward to going back through the threads and reading these at leisure. There were some real nice pieces put out there.

As one who did manage to write one poem every day    
(bena: rules is rules. It is NOT cheating to write 8 lines with 1
word on each line. Putting 10 to 20 words on each line and resorting
to all manner of rhyme scheming [a method used to mesmerize readers
into a primal hypnotic state where everything set before them seems
intrinsically profound {not unlike the effect of various psychedelic
drugs} is easy. Capturing the profound essence of life, the universe,
and everything in 8 words is a Herculean task that few [such as one
of the few who posted one {and sometimes two just to show off} poems
a day can accomplish]. Bow before me wench and draw me water!).
I would like to state that the topics, while overall somewhat good,
contained a few that sucked quite badly. I had thought, at first,
that this was a sign of some sort of intellectual shortcoming, but
I eventually (the sluggishness of this realization evidencing, alas,
the deterioration of mine own cerebral functioning) realized these were
intentional acts of genius, a way of separating the goats from the sheep
(this is not, in any way, a reference to Australian predilections).
So kudos to thee, oh puppeteer of NaPM! I salute thee and will feel
honored to have the privilege (should the gods grant me such) to humbly
(if such were possible for one of the few who managed to write one poem
every day   ) to participate.

The poetic marathon is over. There were some good miles and some bad miles. So are we handing out bumper stickers so I can rub this accomplishment in my neighbor's faces?
I'm going to now slowly go back and enjoy and probably comment on some of these.

I would probably actually buy that just for the Pigpen logo on the shirt. It beats the last shirt a company I worked for made in my "honor" for the whole team celebrating a vegas outing. It had my face and a mason jar full of kamikaze.

Now, I just dabble with poetry, liver and all.

Next year, we can do one of those extreme marathons 2 poems a day. Okay, I will send myself to the House of Pain for even suggesting it.

I will never bow, but your water is drawn.  There may or may not be piranha.  This was my first year of actually doing one a day (and the first time I did it on my own site.) I did 30 new poems between the two sites, so that I am proud of.  Next year I'll employ the one word per line thing if I need to. 

I'm still working on the last one so blah.

Just read it, it scares and despairs me (i.e. good poem).
I'm in his position; sucks, but yes, death trumps it by about a zillion times.

I'm going back through the threads. I don't like to read them in great depth while I'm writing, it adds too much pressure. I don't plan on bumping each thread, but there's some good work in there. I hope people chose to develop these ideas further.

I'm just plain developed out; besides, ideas are over-rated.

I think day 24 - Write a poem inspired by the place you are from
was one of the best, maybe the best.

As I said about day 24:

The poems above...
I could just attribute them to a good topic (which it is);
and, contrary to my usual self, I seemed to have read them all (all)
so many times. They're like an album of music you can't stop
listening to. A poem-a-day means compromise in most places,
but not here. I've NEVER seen such consistently excellent writing.
Though just to comment on 'writing' is like commenting on the quality
of the paints, the brush-strokes, even the use of color in some sublime
painting. Those are just the mechanics. The places these poems take me,
the feeling, the experience; some sort of living exists in them...

Thank you for running this again, milo. While I only ended up with one or two keepers that's one or two more than I wrote in March and it was mostly fun, except for all those dead ends I started.

But so many members posted mostly keepers. The reading was, and is, amazing, both for enjoyment and education.

So thanks to all who grabbed the opportunity to stretch a little and graced us all with a month that at a minimum got the mind turning.

Thanks sweet milo for your inspiration. Who knew I would ever write a villanelle. Not me!

I did glimpses of things (if not full poems) that were keepers, and Ive been dry for months.

I know it's hard for me to tell sometimes which of my own worked and which are trash. It's possible there are others of you with the same problem. I don't think a bump is a problem it you think someone's is worth working on, just encourages us to read the thread again, nothing wrong with that. Or you could PM them if you prefer but it's nice to get opinions, even in NaPM.
