A coastal hike

I shall take my poems and go
to tea trees shaking in the rain
since yesterday falling, but also
last year in pauses,
and the year before that
and the year before that
and so on till the dawn of man
and still before
still before
till the grass disappears
and the sea travels deep inland.

Very nice!  The ending, with its deep-time gaze, reminds me of "Kimigayo" -

...until tiny pebbles grow to be
great boulders covered with moss.

but focused on the past instead of the future.
