What is a gerund?

Nice, that's something I can probably remember.

I don't even know if there is a benefit to being able to identify a gerund

other than to impress people on poetry boards.

Well, it would be nice not to misuse the term gerund when responding to someone on a poetry board using it while critiquing your poem.

Aside from that, nope, hasn't come up.

I have just updated my resume and added that skill. I expect several substantially higher offers are incoming.
