A coastal hike

A coastal hike (Edit 1.0)

I shall take my poems and go
to tea trees shaking in the rain
falling since yesterday, also
last year in pauses.
And the year before that
and the year before that
and so on till the dawn of man.
And before,
still before,
and before, until
the grass disappears,
the sea travels deep inland,
and before -

Very nice!  The ending, with its deep-time gaze, reminds me of "Kimigayo" -

...until tiny pebbles grow to be
great boulders covered with moss.

but focused on the past instead of the future.

Thanks. I've made some small edits.
A geological footnote: the Hawkesbury sandstone around Sydney was laid down in the Triassic, when the sea levels were higher. Because sandstone is compact, there's only a thin soil cover on top, and species like tea trees abound, particularly around the coastal cliffs, where the winds tend to be strong.
