In my experience, 7 brave souls is pretty good turnout. It is a big commitment. At the end of April, if everyone has the stamina, we will have a massive 210 poem NaPM collection.

That being said, it would be great if others would join.

Sleep's sometimes
so swift and light,
wings of a humming bird.
The wakeful mind weaves
a nest of wispy dreams.

Sleep could be a cozy cat,
purring so softly,
spreading the doze;
until you close your eyes
and give in to the soothing caress.

Sleep comes seldom,
slithering as a python,
twining itself around
in a bone-crushing grip
a long-needed kip
undeniable at last.

I want to participate in this NaPM event.
I know this one is a poor try, will do my best in the coming ones.

Cheers Smile
Actually, there is a lot to like about this, especially the last stanza. Not saying you had to take the whole ark and leave no poor beasties for the rest of the poets . . .Big Grin

Thank you... Smile

Sleep
Sleep is human,
rich in irony, a born hypocrite and complete asshole.

We all need sleep to live, make no mistake,
but some of us slumber as if they’re dead.

The amount needed fluctuates a lot too,
from needing a lot, to little, and back and forth.

Too little and focus is lost, but strangely one feels energetic.
Too much and one wakes up feeling it’s not enough.

Worst of all, it comes when unasked for,
but refuses to visit when most appropriate.

here's my very late contribution. I'll try to fill in these missed ones, but I've thought about the joke assignment for days and have come up empty every time. (guess I'm not very funny.... hehe)

Burning under two hooved toes
the yellow sands of time
slip slowly away.
Burning under two closed eyes
my tangled web of thoughts
slips slowly away.

He drinks his fill, stores it away
for those sun beaten plains
where there is none to be had.
I sleep my fill, store it away
for those restless nights
when there is none to be had.
