On Making Love When You’re Ninety Three
#1
This window’s
scene more pane
etched upon its faceless
view
than rain
could fill the mighty
Danube, here loved ones
come and go,
anxiously they wait; contemplating,
whose next?
Today though there’s only joy.
Such noticeable gait,
he’s late.
Smoldering big blue eyes
softens the blow
as he stoops down and warmly
kisses her nose,
something stirs deep within her.
An expectant hand
comes within his reach, for these silent moments
there’s no need for engaging speech.
As she gently palms his hand
unfurls the note and eagerly reads.
Satiated of her needs their glinting eyes meet
as he’ll say with a cliché
‘was it good for you’?
and she’ll wryly smile and say
‘same time, same place, next week.’

Enjoyed this very much, great opening lines
never make someone your priority when to them you are only an option

I do like your way with puns Smile

This is playful and poignant at the same time, even a little bit Larkinesque. And it just goes to show that some things never change, no matter what age you are!
It could be worse
