I lay awake
To ponder a poem
As my stomach breaks
Down food.
They both protest
But I know just one
Will dump its contents
Into the toilet
And I pray
It will be my stomach.
Just wrote this because I can't sleep for the sake of two organs.
And, what the hell, I just wrote this too:
I lay awake
Late, too late to sleep
And hope, perchance, to dream
Maybe she'll come
Though I know better
I can hear her call
A man can want.
But never my name.
Hope y'all enjoyed that.

Hey The Card,
The first one was hilarious. The second one was well crafted, 2 poems in one both saying the same thing but in a different way.
I don't have much problems sleeping any more. And I can relate to waiting for someone that most likely isn't going to show up. I exhaust myself when I'm awake, then I sleep soundly through nightmares. Sometimes they have a twist at the end that wake me up with a jolt.
Decent poems, both of them.

For me, nightmares aren't the worst. It's the dreams where I'm happy that get me. That's about two halves of a quarter of the second poem.

Dreams fading in and out? Waking dreams?

Kinda. Daydreams, some of them. Sometimes it's reliving memories. Other times it's a happy dream, where I feel good and then I wake up and want to die.
But it's too late to go back to sleep.

I have very structured dreams. Sometimes there is just horror all the way through, in very specific and torturous ways. There have even been times when credits rolled at the end of my dreams. A twist takes place, all fades to black, and credits roll.
Another thing with me, my mind projects things. Whenever I see a girl with long dark hair, my mind projects the face of this girl I know onto her. So things get awkward in public.
