To FB or not to FB,that's the question
#21
I understand the Evils of Facebook. I was hesitant to use it as well but I thought what the hell, they can only use the info I give it. So I joined it and I gave it the bare minimum of legit info about me. Within Facebook I found an adoption group of interest and joined that as well. 2 weeks later after I joined Facebook my HS prom date found me (Holy CRAP she is a GREAT grandmother, boy did I dodge that bullet). Another week later all these girls from HS that I only vaguely remember (where are the men, I remember them MUCH better..) found me and indeed after scrutinizing the names with my yearbooks, they are indeed my HS class mates. Soon after that I discovered how many relatives I have out there. I have a cousin who is my aunts great great great granddaughter. (Yeah she started young as did her daughter and her daughters daughter) I am actually very glad I am getting to know all my relatives. It's been at least 20 years since I've seen most of them. it seems that every other time I log on to Facebook I discover another cousin that I didn't even know existed. As for those obnoxious annoying relatives just simply ignore them. Every family has one.
you just have to set the settings carefully to guard your privacy, make sure you understand them and if in doubt tell it no or restrict it to "friends only". to not start playing those silly little online games because if you do you will find yourself playing them more often and being sociable let's and being sociable is the idea of Facebook. I am not trying to promote it or give it little pats on the back but so far as of this moment after a year my experience with Facebook has been nominal.
