Chiron and Wabisabi People

Pencil in hand, let's trace
the glanceseach aspect,
the human body blinks and belches.

From cool air to warm river,
what flow of difference maintains
a throne? More an antechamber.

Now, in a forest, with the rules of society
the invisible glue that helps us:
Pan and the rest long after fields

open as sundials or daisies;
while Puck, skilled hare of the sound,
is a woodsman through and through.

From pinecone to star, whether our cats
are spies or dogs are guards,
sleep still plays the record

of our middling. Eyes separate as
lovers: How do we afford to
stay afloat, when every possibility

doesn't hold water only,
but explains in the dryest details
what could get the Gorgon wet?

Through a prism of self, he shoots the arrow,
tuning the music the Good Neighbor knows;
sad as that lunar grin can never hold.

Hilly fields with golden teeth
spread silence like patchwork across each
continent. Fertile with sun.

Before the sun, there is no darkness no less
than these sentences we trace recommend.

Song of birds, a bouquet of flowers:
we measure as though they're even.

Really beautiful piece, Rowans. Gonna wait and see if my favorite lines remain my favorites but the whole of it is a joy to read, so glad you posted it here where we can find it.

It’s pleasant.
But I also dislike poetry that doesn’t have the clarity of an instruction manual
I mean, it’s too tempting to lose the narrative in the dazzle and glint of unexpected turns of phrase and imagery that cuts through the clutter.
The “lunar grin” is an example of what I dislike.
It adds mystery to the enigma of what the author is trying to say.
It complicates instead of resolving

Elon Musk would rip this poem apart, too.

I don't know the answers to all the world's questions, I don't have any questions.

I look up and see the Cheshire Cat, and that's proof enough.

Or, for instance, I wonder if geometry, mathematics and languages are kind of like what suboxone is to opiate addiction.

I think psychology was methadone.
