Lead Breaks

Lead BreaksĀ

Who are you?
Why is that?
Who you aren't,
a slew of regrets?

Confidence has
always preceded
cognitive decline.
Disrupting my life.

What I am is;
a collection of
necessary choices.
A room no voices.

I'm alone everyday.
Home has never
made me feel
so far away.

Scribbling my thoughts.
Not in a tower, a duplex.
Pencil lead breaks.
My mind reflects.

Was I ever happy?
Am I ever sane?
Who are you?
Why is that?

Hey Carah so happy you relate to this poem.
I really needed to get out some of these ideas Im glad they're
relatable. I feel like aton of my life with schizoaffective is
relatable to people who have experienced unwanted change.

I absolutely love the way the poem flows. In the beginning, the writer is accusatory in their questioning of others and the world around them, and by the time it ends, it points back to them not truly knowing who they are and feeling uncomfortable in their shape. It is not just a documentation of thoughts, it is a representation of a journey, one that can be relatable to many others going through various different challenges.
