There our friends are
Their friends too
They’re all playing
Like friends do
Hear them calling
Here they come
Now we all will
Have some fun
Fun is friends
Like you and me
Fun as fun
As fun can be
Wherever one is
May be ten
Wherever fun is
There are friends!

China Wall!!
Between the posts
our waves dwindle
more and more
gather in the middle
"China wall!" they all shout.
until the rest get out-
only one remains to face
our fallen grace.

I’ll alI'llways be a hidden child
inside the perfect cover
of flourishing elephant ears
no desire to be found
I’m hiding there still, listening
to the vain calls of the seekers
silent, absent from the crowd
that wants only to use me
for another round of distraction.

First Game
The game of “War”
perhaps the simplest
children’s card game is
more deterministic than “Go Fish”
for everything depends upon
its initial deal...
yet it teaches face
values and hierarchies
a necessary understanding
for life’s “Game” of war.
