Yes. The photo needs to be first stored online. I used to use Tinypic but it appears to be no more. Google photos or something similar will work. Go to the "insert an image" icon, and paste the address of the stored photo.

Yes, the photo needs some sort of web address. I’m not tech savvy.  I posted the picture to my blog and then copied the address from there.  I don’t know how to do any other type of photo.  But if you have a web address for just the photo, then you can use the code to post it.

It is possible there may have been issues in the past.  I don’t remember. Most of us keep forgetting how to upload a picture. (I had to look at Ray’s post to see what he did). Also, it’s often too much work to find a web address home for the photo.  

For those reading this, no, you cannot post anything you want in the sewer. 

Rule number one on the rules page disallows graphic images of violence, pornography, etc.  That rule is under the heading “these rules apply everywhere.”  That means zero tolerance, and that those types of images are not allowed even in the sewer.  Breaking the rule would result in an immediate ban.

My recollection is different. 
Though I have a bad memory so there's that. 

I don't really recall a situation where inappropriate pics were posted. There may have been a few borderline posts in the sewer but I can't remember any causing too much headache.

A few years back a bunch of us used tinypic and it worked well here but is gone now. (still trying to retrieve a few haigas) If you google "alternatives to tinypic" there are hosting sites that will work fine with the PP.

There isn’t any good reason why a person would need to post a picture of anything at all on a poetry site.  We deal in words here. The option is there for whimsey only.  

There is zero reason why anyone would need to post something even borderline questionable.  There are other places where people can do that.  I have no desire to suddenly find myself required to daily check this site for questionable images. People pushing the boundaries just for kicks will instantly cross my tolerance threshold. It is an issue I absolutely have no desire to deal with.  If it becomes an issue, I will deal with it by banning. If you aren’t sure whether or not picture contains gore or nudity, then play it safe and don’t post it. I cannot even begin to explain to you how much I do not want to have to check this site for violent images.

This isn’t Facebook or Instagram.  There is no reason to post such a thing here, even if it’s cute. I think my grandfather may have tried the nose thing.  I found it to be a very confusing game.

This site is for poetry and poetry-related things.  This thread was discussing how to attach an image to a poem for occasions when doing so would add to the poem.  Therefore this thread is not ‘null and void.’   

While we do have a place for members to chat and blow off steam (like the music thread), it is not the main purpose of the site.  I have no desire to engage in an argument about this.  If you have further observations or objections, please start a thread in the sewer.

I've posted wrestling matches to give images of things I was writing about.

I was being humorous by asking these questions.

I'm sure I'm not going to get banned by posting videos of my man Raven wrestling in the '90s.

I was saying these things in a lighthearted, comical way.

I also write a lot about horror movies. So you know.
