Ever felt like this?
In Australia we don't use the term 'crazy'. We just say 'artists'.

All the kids were retarded in some way. Nobody knew how to talk. After high school you could be stuck in a mental hospital. The teachers at school were daycare. They still are for those kids.

Ha, rowens is right that I do choose to avoid conflict when it suits me, but when I choose to stand up you damn well better sit down. Hysterical Hysterical

Yep, they give up on teaching and you're lucky to find a place where they tolerate your kid enough that he's willing to go.

Every student in my classroom has been failed by the mainstream school system. "Special needs" is no more than a label for lazy teaching practitioners to employ when they can't be bothered -- or haven't the experience, skills or resources -- to individualise learning.

And if the kid is unable to conform it's pretty much a disaster.

I like em though. They're not beige.

And they're almost never appropriate. I like inappropriate. It's where I do my best work. Don't tell the inspectors.

I think that's an amazing gift to have, the ability and dedication not only to engage with these kids, but also to help them produce work, and thought, and responsibility, and a better appreciation of the use of language. Kudos to you.

Amen. It shouldn't be above and beyond, in an ideal world it wouldn't be, but in our world put your crown on and wear it proudly, a glowing light in the darkness.

I'd be homeless if it wasn't for this little room in the backyard of this land my family inherited from my grandmother. There's no running water but I make it ok. I have too much pride to think I should have something better. I grew up with all the LD kids, but they're all dead or locked up, and here I sit.

I say though that one of the LD kids I grew up with became a successful engineer and some others started businesses. But those things don't mean much to me.

Thanks, but it's not a gift. Any of you could do it. All it takes is an absolute disregard (hatred really) for labels and a bit of humility, mixed in with a whole shitload of determination to change a broken system that turns out broken kids.

Rowens, Jesus didn't have running water either and things turned out pretty well for him... oh wait...

That's what I keep trying to tell these church people, but they still put their noses up and won't let me in.

Maybe you don't have the right kind of sandals.

My underarms smell like onions, my ass smells like a well-cooked meal. But I'm ready about talking about poetry. Maybe Leanne you could start a new discussion thread about romantic poetry and in the first post you could survey the subject in your opinions: and after that I can respond. Because that's what I'm in the mood to talk about. But you have to start it with your opinions, or people will just sneer at me.

The way I see it, the world is an awful hunger figure four leg lock that you can't get out of. But romantic poetry says, yeah I'm a nobody loser: But better to be a nobody than a somebody who's lame Joe Blow bigshot 12 inch Lover Boy.

Tired of discussions, wrote you a poem instead. Byron would never approve.

I will start the discussion myself then, if no one deletes it. I just was looking to you as an LD supporter. If you can't put a tongue out for me, I'll just have to put my own out. So don't complain about what I say without guidance.

You don't need guidance. Sometimes you need a swift kick up the arse. Maybe if you're nice enough, someone will give it to you.

I'm opiate constipated, nothing you could fit up my ass would hurt worse than whatever I'm trying to get out. Whatever shoesize you wear.

JustM, have you not heard me say these YouTube videos are tearing up my phone feed? Everytime it says Image or Screen Too Large it then says: You Cannot Respond, Guest. So whatever I end up saying is some watered down version of what I meant to say before I had to reset the phone and charge the battery.

I tried to watch it just now. Thinking it was going to help me pass this person's shoe I just ate. But the phone won't even play audio.
