Let us start with a metaphor, a very spicy one,
one not often used before, one, not overdone.
Then just a double dash of allspice alliteration,
and I think a homespun pun in a stirring combination,
with a double entendre, or perhaps a sweet allusion,
be careful don't drop that pot and a get a bad contusion,
it's heavy made with irony, and dripping with satire,
you can shove it in your self, because I am much to tired.
How long after picking up the brush, the first masterpiece?

The goal is not to obfuscate that which is clear, but make clear that which isn't.

New Age Prometheus

You procured recipes
for the cures
of all those ailments
our marriage bore. I gathered wormwood,
heliotrope, some iris roots
and meadowwort.

You scrawled dark motifs
on white birch bark, using ink infused
with menstrual blood, collected
after a new moon rise,
while the sea threatened
with irate tides.

What we created,
was not meant to be. I toil
preserving humanity. You go
out each evening,
roving wild. I’m at home
with this thing

we call child.

Meatball disaster

Take one fresh lake
and bring it to the boil
on six gas mains,
strip willow leaves
from a hundred trees,
cut away their trunks
drop in the branches
then slowly blanch,
on three gas mains.

One herd of cows
per each meatball,
a suggestion is to use ten,
mixed inside a hurricane blender.
Next turn up the sun
and fry them in their own fat,
at Nevada on the salt lake flats.
(no seasoning required)

Once the meat is completely cooked,
turn down the sun to a simmer.
Scoop out the Superbowl
and wash clean with a flood,
then dry with several cyclones.
Use a large satellite dish
to sieve the tender branches
squeeze three Italian tomato plantations
and mix in gently
with a twisted railroad track.

Place all inside the superbowl,
add the meatballs and garnish,
with the willow leaves
you saved earlier.

I've been horribly lax and awfully busy. Here's a quickie.

Once, but no longer

Wanting to make mama proud she learned
the banana bread recipe by heart.
At the age of seven she could whip it up
not even needing help with the oven.
She could turn smashed yellow mush
into a "specialty" that mama took
to potlucks and church meetings
and everyone grabbed for.

At thirteen years old she decided she no longer
liked bananas. Seven years later they paid
her back, inducing anaphalaxis.

For best results, pre-soak
your choice of dried fruit.
A cheap option for a midweek bake
is Cider, for special occasion cakes,
make with Champagne or Whisky.

Restrain your portioned pats of fat
in a suitable place and lightly beat,
until soft drop from your fingers
takes place. Do not overly labour
this stage or curdle may occur later.

The hard work is done,
now for some fun – Eggs or oil,
sticky syrup or sugar are good
additions, some spice to suit.
Next, gently enfold in the finest flour
and then spoon it around a few times.

All good fruit cakes are slow to bake,
but are sure to be well worth the wait.
