People feel safer, and sometimes justified to hang their dirty laundry and private thoughts in public forums like facebook, which aren't as private as people think they are with the like and share button. They also feel that places like facebook and twitter are safe places in a way, because they can say whatever they want safely behind a computer screen, with minimal repercussions, which is ultimately not true. Face to face, many of us wouldn't say half the shit we say online.
