Speaking as someone who has lived with ignorant traditions all their life, I can certainly understand how these men that make the rules could continue in ignorance. It's quite possible that this tradition is being carried on by those with good hearts but very little common sense. There is no justification, of course, but all I'm saying is that this tradition, like all traditions, will be very hard to root out.
