Hi Jack,
I had to listen to Kate Bush to get in the right frame of mind for this.
Great first line. The language has enough period elements to feel right. I love the final three lines of S1. Even all of S2 delivered for me. A really fun write. One possible cut I thought of was L17, you could eliminate naught but and probably lose nothing.
More fun to read than Bronte herself.
