Unfortunately, in Canada it was a standard practice to perform circumcisions and for various reasons, it was believed to be cleaner, it allowed son to look like daddy, and for religious beliefs.
Today less than 25% of Canadian male babies are circumcised with the proceedure now billed to the parents.

Further, all Canadian children, both male and female, should be protected by the criminal laws of Canada with regards to this aggravated assault.
