ibiza was one of the mane focal points in the origin of certain genres.
house, trance etc, it was the in place where you could find the best dj from around the world.
the arguably best music, and definietly some of the best clubs, cream (the trade mark) is now a world wide phenom, it's even here in the philippines. ibiza for many wasn't just a party place but a way of life. no where held foam parties like ibiza, now every bar in spain that has a dj has a foam party. (exaggerating i know but you get what i'm saying. )
it came about in the same way detroit was the happening scene for soul, along with philly, the same that the north of england was the birth place of northern soul, that liverpool was one of the biggest city's to hear pop music in. same with a few clubs in manchester uk.
ibiza became a branded icon for all would be trance, house, rave addicts to pilgrimage to.
it isn't or wasn't just about getting drunk, it was much more about being on the scene.
