Britain is a very closed society, with strict social rules and lots of "frowning upon".
Young people perhaps go to Ibiza and get smashed out of some sense of freedom. Plus the genrations before them did so as well, so there is a cultural thing as well (associated with drinking, drugs and sex all of which are plentiful over there).
Me, I think there are rather nicer places in Spain to go, even if to get smashed. The thing is, so many Brits go to eye-bee-tha (always makes me laugh) that they can just speak English with other Brits and staff that knows English cos of theit job and don't have to worry about knowing any Spanish.
They miss out on all the Spanish culture. But they're not there for that.
