I disagree 100% with you "V" on this one. Both my husband and I have personally experienced the almighty power of God/Higher Being or whatever one wants to call it, and it's the reason why I will never in all my living days discredit Him.
This is a long story but it shares how God was with us all the way through our ordeal.
Twenty-five years ago my husband had become ill. At first we thought it was a flue or something ... low energy, loss of appitite, feeling off for a couple of weeks, then he began to lose weight and continued to do so to the point of looking like a starving african. As the stubborn man that he is, he thought he could restore his health with natural remedies (neither one of us are into doctors that much), anyways dispite all our efforts his condition continued to worsen, night sweats began, he would sleep for hours at a time, awaking with burst of energy which would dwindle in a short time after. We began to fight about him not going to see a doctor as it was clear he wasn't recovering, I was becoming scared, we were a young family with two babies, and his stubborness angered me.
We had recently moved into the area, our phone was not yet hooked up, we knew no one, we didn't even have a personal phyiscian. Anyways, one night there's a knock on our door and outside the door stood this rather large sized German woman who was very forthright in her manner. She was in town visiting and had come by to see the folks who had previously lived in our house not knowing they had moved. She was a stern woman and demanded to know who the hell we were lol., she then quickly spotted my husband sitting on the couch and pushing her way into the door asked what was wrong. My husband told her he had the flu ... "nonsense" she scolded and demanded to know where the phone was so she could make a Dr. appointment for him, with no phone she drove up to a nearby store using the payphone to make an appointment for us. She was an amazing woman and more stubborn than my husband. I think my husband kept the appointment out of fear of this woman (who became a dear friend to us). My husband was scheduled to see a specialist immediately with biopsies taken from his groin area and his armpits. The diagnoisis was lymphatic cancer which spreads very quickly. He was admitted to hospital and every possible thing that could be done was done until eventually they said the cancer was too wide spread and for us to go home and keep my husband as comfortable as possible with only months of life left for us together.
News in a small town spreads quickly and within hours of returning home newly met neighbours had us on their church prayer circles which spread to other communities and their churches ... it was phenomenal to say the least. There were churches all over with members we knew nothing about praying for our little family round the clock. And when I say round the clock I mean just that ... 24hrs a day. Some of these churches have what they call prayer worriors and clocks are set for the next prayer worrior to take over ... sounds silly maybe even stupid but I and my husband owe these diligent souls mountains of graditute.
My husband was set to be released from the hospital over the next couple of days and on one of the evenings he wanted to take a shower. I had gone down to the hospital auxilary store to get him some better quality shampoo, when I returned to his room and pulled back the shower curtain I felt like I had been hit with a massive punch to my stomach, he was so thin that I could have put my fist in his hip socket, I think this was probably the first time I actually thought seriously,"my God, I'm really going to loose my husband. I backed out of the bathroom with a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, went and sat on the edge of the bed, pulled the window curtains back, it was an overcast day and all but this tiny circle of light shone through the grey. I looked up and said ... God, I beg you please, don't take him from me. I sat there staring out the window and just as clear as clear can be I heard God say to me everything was going to be alright (not a spoken voice as from another person, but an inward voice) I didn't second guess, or question it for a second, I jumped off the bed, opened the bathroom door, pulled the shower curtain back and excitedly told my husband what was just spoken to me. My husband ever so calmly turned to me and said, "I know babe, He already told me too". Indeed we were sent home for Doug to die. We were requested to be seen in a couple of weeks by the cancer team that was dealing with our case, my husband was re-biopsed and we will never forget the words spoken by our doctor ... "the biopsies are clear all we can do is assume the body as healed itself" ... We know where the healing came from. Smile
We have had a couple of other situations but none that profound, and never does a day go by that thankfulness is not offered up for the least of things. We are not religious per sae, no following of a doctorine, or rituals but we do acknowledge a Higher Being, and I am truely and forever greatful that He did intervene as we are now grandparents and continue to share our love and life with each other.

You give to the world when you're giving your best to somebody else.
