That's the oddity of God as religion seems to uphold him... god is this all powerful, omnipotent being, who has a tendency to let his own creations kind of run away from him? (lucifer, mankind, etc) If he/she did plan to build a church, probably the same thing happened... a few basic rules he/she wanted following get twisted until they become the basics for some megalomanic power structure of a bunch of old men LOL
Also we're supposed to believe that god cares less about the greater inequities of the mortal world (millions spent on stuff like plastic surgery on one side of the world while on the other side children still starve to death) and is more riled up about stupid things like smiting people for having sex :wanker:.
