Actually it's all who get involved in this type of behaviour that cause damage. Whether you're the one who has instigated the idea or you are the one promoting/spreading the idea ... both are in the wrong.

The proximate cause of the anticipated global affront to muslims is the news, not the otherwise impotent idiocy of a little 50-person church.

Having his bible burned by muslims may be insulting, but it doesn't affect his freedom of religion.

With idiots like this giving religion a bad rap, stirring up shit, pissing others off to the point of exploding emotions, and igniting a war and then governments stepping in and saying enough is enough NO MORE RELIGION he'll have himself to thank for his 2 rotten peanuts.

That's a pretty far-fetched chain of events. Polls indicate that believers number about 85% of the people on this planet -- hardly an endangered species.

Why would an atheist bother?

I just meant that I could understand more if it was atheists as they view religion as ridiculous in the first place.

Not necessarily -- an unknown percentage are open-minded. Some expressions of religious ideas could seem ridiculous, like the case in point.

I struggle when I hear of a Christian acting in this way because of what they have been taught as far as treating others in a godly manner.

Should have been taught, you mean. You never know.

And I'm not saying atheists are without love and compassion.

But more likely to make a news event out of burning the Qur'an? I don't think so.
