homo sexuals (serious thread)

To tell you fellas the truth I thought it was because we are all, male and female alike, homo sapains and there is no distinction between the two sex's in the word as it pertains to the human race at presant.

as for the word homosexual it doesn't make alot of sense to me either. Looks like a guy thats sexual,rofl, Since we really don't have a third sex as far as my understanding goes, I can see haveing great difficulty in inventing a word to describe the, for lack of a better word, behavior when applied to either of our two sex's.

Billy's question was if homo means man, than why are lesbians called homosexuals too (paraphrasing). benny2guns said it correctly, we are all homo-sapiens and homo means human (not man), as was indicated by a prior thread. "Homosexuality is one of the three main categories of sexual orientation, along with bisexuality and heterosexuality, within the heterosexual-homosexual continuum." (wiki...a) Psychiatrists needed to have a term to differentiate one orientation from the other, so basically people (either sex) who are attracted to the same sex are all homosexuals. I don't really care for titles (although i'm a lesbian), but if you must give me a title, i'd rather be called "queer" (from the "sticks & stones verse"). hope this helps.

the word 'homo' just means, 'is the same'. it's not an existential determination made by academics in frisco. it's just a general name for same-sex relations, and it's a jargon term made up to fit a category which some bozo figured out for a PhD back in germany in the 19th century. it's bogus thinking, really. love is love, and that's the only important thing to know about someone.

By definition Lesbians are homosexuals as well.

They want to be there own group of sexual beings.
Since male homosexuals dominate the public eye and the general social scene the whole group of same sex beings were grouped together
