I approve this message - regarded the previous version as humorous rather than threatening, but this is more dignified.

To paraphrase a saying about academe, literary clashes are so vicious because there is so little at stake. (Applies to online disputes in general.)  Or to quote another, though I can't recall the source, "What is best in life?  To see the book of my antagonist remaindered."
