Insofar as symbolism goes - big deal.
The Brits laud Churchill, though he killed more in a single year in Bengal than Hitler did in his camps.
The Mongols look up to Genghis.
The Israelis unashamedly carry out ethnic cleansing in their European colony in the heart of Palestine.
Truman dropped two atomic bombs on civilians and fire bombed a Japanese city twelve hours before surrender. 

Hitler is history now. Just like we don’t lose sleep over Caesar massacring tens of thousands of Germans, we can forget about the Holocaust now and worry about the problems of today.

OTOH, electric vehicles are one of the most important weapons against global warming. And they’re where they are thanks to Musk. Though I’d say he’s lost the battle to the Chinese, which is a net benefit for humanity since the Chinese can now do it better.
And that is to say nothing of the grid batteries side of the business.

He’s made remote comms possible. He’s made space travel accessible - much more so than when it was a state monopoly under nasa. Neuralink should be his next goal.

He is not a technical genius. He is a megalomaniac. But he’s the bastard we need.
