When you're the dentist
It's an investigation
really
at times easily solved
when you walk
into the smell
permeating the room
or lift the lip
and see
grade four periodontal disease
throughout
teeth waving
in the proverbial breeze.
Sometimes a mystery
of scent-
an unpleasant odor
nestled within apparent health
the search championed
by the ardor of love.
Regardless,
the constant refrain-
"But how will he eat?"
My response-
Do you love your pet
or his teeth?
