Twist-Resist
Key binds, cut brass teeth bite
steel pins, sprung reluctant
tiny turn to right, refused,
negotiating leftward, rattle,
push in deeper, stopped, no progress
pull out, no, stopped by each pin
already set.
I hate this lock
on my front door. It’s been re-keyed
to no avail. And now it’s raining...
I give up. I’ll go in by
the car’s lift-door. Full-automatic
it’s got buttons, combination
I remember. Often works
the first time.
Whoa!
Door-key turned brass-slidingly;
bolt disengages and I’m in.
Only took a little threat
to go bypass it. Now I’m ready
to pull out recalcitrant
infuriating key and it
won’t budge.
