Last night I read Berryman's elegies about Delmore Schwartz.
Another poet I need to read.
I've pretty much decided that reading poetry is now more important to maintaining the magic of the cosmos than my own imcompetent attempts at writing. That and keeping company with my 90 year old dog park buddy who needs a listener as death stalks hiim every day.
Summer won't let go here in South Texas, and for some reason, the trains here have a new policy of blaring their horns all the way through town. Something about a lack of warning signals. I was thinking this morning they need to outfit trains with carnival lights. It would be more effective since most people listen more with their eyes than their ears. At least for night time crossings.
Time to listen. There's not enough of. Telling it, it îs, what it ïs and telling it, when it ísn't.
