Had I become a body mechanic
I could have guided that robot
to place that titanium ball and spike
into my own hip. But I’d have needed
to learn how to do it in my sleep.
I wonder how many doctors will claim
to have actually done something
while I wasn’t conscious? That’s probably
why I let that doctor I saw broken down
on the side of the road call a tow truck.
I hope that she didn’t leave her phone
in my hip.
