A signifying supper starts with soup
(some muddled musings) then a crazy salad
of esoteric ballads
remarking unremarkably on loops,
lines, periods -- then fresh tilapia
caught from the Sea of Galilee
(abused religiosity)
succeeded by, what else? a little Lamb,
a little cow -- at last, the signified
materializes -- pork, if one can take it,
the sides bland mushy peas
and, for dessert, some ornamental lies:
fruit in chartreuse jelly, if one can make it,
topped with Chantilly cream.
