Elevator X 2
I rarely ride an elevator anymore.
An escalator? Can’t remember the last time.
I seem too stay mostly parallel to the ground
except when we go into the mountains
where elevation is a constant.
Why does stepping into an elevator
feel so much like stepping into a gallows
that goes up and down? Perhaps it’s
that anticipated deliverance
of one kind or another.
