I’ll go with Rivernotch’s original suggestion about a mythological theme…
The Moirai loom
What is love but a longing
to live
out of our skins
oblivious to time
and the ruin it brings, the thirst to do
immortal things
never quenched.
It makes us blind
to darkness, the night
loosened Minotaur in its cave
flicking his tail. And so I was given a boon
by Aphrodite, and so I was driven
to you, who shall be mine
till the Moirai loom
us out. At first light
we sail.
