Fair-weather friends stick together
when all is fair, which is all the time:
a drought is for tanning, a flood is for swimming,
a storm is for flying high without wings
or charging one's phone without a socket.
Beware the all-weather friend, for they
will hide you from trouble by finding you a cave
when the winds blow too hard or finding you a hill
when the river overflows -- in other words, make
your life not worth much recollecting.
