Imagine: in some other world,
instead of monsters, everyone
dressed up according to the sense
of that rare word, so often said
near thoughtlessly in Christian prayer.
Behold, I stand before the door
and knock, goes little Jesus, flanked
by the Sts. Peter, James, and John,
until some thoughtful rascal bears
his lopped-off head as if to bowl
and goes, I'm St. Denis!
