Fingers of a marionette
stretch down to a slice of paper.
Pen in one hand, trying to remember.
Stroke begins to taper.

Arching around
making a striation on the outside
with burns and tears;
sprouted of his nightmares.

The finished result
is a monstrosity
but perhaps most of all
is those marionette hands
that created him. 

After, he reclines to the depths
the work he done: taxing;
drifting sleeplessly in an abyss
no time for relaxing.
