I guess our cicadas are a different breed, annuals. No invasion here (yet). I've always thought that they appear wise in person and their singing is about the only thing I like about Texas in the summertime. DC was once a swamp, right? They are just trying to reclaim it from you human interlopers.

Yeah, where I live Brood X are out in force, up to a million per acre. They have reclaimed the entire DC area, yet here in Virginia there are WAY more than downtown in DC.
Don't know if I'll be around in '38 when Brood X makes its return, so I might as well try to enjoy the hootenanny.
