"a stray jogger, photographer, painter, or gardeners, it was just me. Just me, standing in the sublime silence of that majestic scene."
The first sentence sounds like a description of every woman I've ever wanted to date. The second sentence is the way I am all the time.
The glory of being a bum doesn't register with most of the other bums I know. And the stray jogger in yoga pants, she's never stray. Not even in my imagination, to be honest.
I've said it before, in a comment only fit for The Sewer, some of these statues, all of them really, when you come across them in certain scenes, give you a special feeling. They do it for you, no matter who the statue is of. And if you know who the statue is of, even if you know little, or don't like what you know, it can still affect the scene in a good and powerful way. That's how I've experienced the situations.
And Washington DC is, or was, I haven't been there lately, a garden of statues. Coming across one in the middle of the night, when you're just stopping over for the night. And you come across a little area with a statue of someone or another. It, for me, makes a good feeling.
