Ostensibly you’re writing because you have something you want to say; generally it’s a reflection of your moods, your emotions, what is going on in your life, a decision you are contemplating...
So tell me about it Just write - explain it - in your natural voice. Don’t make it dramatic, don’t make it poetic, just make me understand it. Poetry is a a form of communication, so communication is the most important aspect. If it’s a dark or depressing thought then it is what is. Good chance I’ve felt that way too, and it will strike a chord. I’m the end, an author has to expose something of themselves in writing, or it’s not going to connect. It’s scary at first, because we fear rejection.
If a lot of what you currently have to say feels depressing, then it might be change is needed in your life. No psychologist here, just an old man who’s been through a lot, had to make changes to my own life, all which reflected in my writing.
Post something here. Communicate a thought to us. We are on your side and want you to succeed. But we can’t discuss your writing without seeing it.

There is no escape from metre; there is only mastery. TS Eliot
