The wind is like a pair of scales:
it judges between all-consuming water
and all-dividing fire,
it measures one's humor, it chooses
between seasons, actions, directions,
whether to touch the surface of the sea
as it glides low, breathes life into flags and sails,
or to lift itself high up and kiss the sky,
whether to pull in rain clouds
or to drive them away,
exposing the sun, the moon, the stars,
whether to blind by blowing dust
into the seer's eye,
or to cut a path
of righteousness through heavy fog:
the wind is like a pair of scales,
it weighs one's heart, one's hunger, and one's mind.
it judges between all-consuming water
and all-dividing fire,
it measures one's humor, it chooses
between seasons, actions, directions,
whether to touch the surface of the sea
as it glides low, breathes life into flags and sails,
or to lift itself high up and kiss the sky,
whether to pull in rain clouds
or to drive them away,
exposing the sun, the moon, the stars,
whether to blind by blowing dust
into the seer's eye,
or to cut a path
of righteousness through heavy fog:
the wind is like a pair of scales,
it weighs one's heart, one's hunger, and one's mind.
