These two brothers, shepherd and plowman
offered their gifts, mutton and barley
to their old Granddad—
how else could it happen when Granddad
seemed to show He rather liked mutton
better than barley?
So that planter murdered his brother.
Was it his fault? Dad said he’d walked with
their rich old Granddad
but those brothers never could see Him.
And Mom cried a lot over her pain
bearing her children.
Was it Granddad’s fault they had tasted
knowledge of the line between good and
evil but crossed it?
