Can poetry ever be irrelevant?

Poetry is irrelevant

If the reader doesn't smell
the fingered belly-button stench
of a sweating gorgonzola.

and poetry is mild if the reader
cannot feel the pinched cheek
smile of a crystalised mature chedder.

In fact, I suspect the only limitation
to poetry, is the readers imagination
and their tolerance of cheese.
