This is what happens
when genius forgets itself;
 
when unrepentant clever
forsakes and is forsaken.
 
It's cold outside.
 
The only hope
is in implosion-
 
a Hail Mary
by any name.

somehow the line "hail mary by any name" has a really strong impact.
(besides the prayer i googled some last ditch effort sports move)
i am not even sure how to connect it to implosion, only implosion seems like a solitary solution.

the beginning of the poem seems to paraphrase "those who criticize are more likely to be criticized" .. i think nobody should hold back out of fear to be criticized, although this probably has some inherent flaws, like personal error doing harm.
i wonder if this is at least in the vicinity of what you wrote about; anyway, thank you for the read.
