The Sun Never Sets on White People
Any Pacific or Indian
island overrun
by white folks
boasts the western culture
in the east
and charts the path
of island history
on ships in tights
for queens and rights
to lands they saw
then said, “Ah, ha!”
and plant a flag,

and cough and hack
till “death, at last!”
erase the past
then say,
"This is the West!"
